After one day off the bike to recover (i wasn't planning on riding on Wednesday anyway, so no loss) it's straight back to business.
Up i jumped with my alarm at 5am (take that Foo!) only to find it was raining. With my extremities still sporting antiseptic cream and dressing, you can imagine how that went down.

So i fired up the computer, loaded the BOM weather radar and waited for the weather to clear.
And waited.
And waited.
And waited.
And waited.
3 HOURS later however the skies cleared and i hopped onto the bike to head south into a strong headwind. With the roads still wet i was a little nervous but got into the swing of it before long. The knees were still a bit tender but as long as i didn't attempt any ridiculous sprinting they were fine.
I didn't really have a destination in mind (which can be nice) and ended up going down through Diddillibah and Eudlo Flats to pop out at Kunda Park to head back north. There i was greeted with a red light and a pantech, but unfortunately the legs weren't quite up to the required acceleration to get the draft (and there was a police car just up the road that may not have believed my adherence to the "no more than 200m at <2m" rule).
The run back up the coast was most enjoyable with the wind now at my back, i wound it up to nudge the low 50s before settling in the mid 40s for the last few kms.
Only early days but with the way i'm riding on the flat i'm looking forward to a good performance come triathlon time.
After breakfast and a bit of tinkering, it was up to Kin Kin to borrow the old man's ute for some work. A rather nice chap who got in touch with me last year is restoring an old farmhouse in a beautiful lush valley up near Mapleton and has replaced all the corrugated iron roofing. So he gets the old roofing removed for free, and i get building materials and an upper body workout. Win win!
In the near future that iron will complete the shed for my goats. Cue gratuitous goat photo!

This is my very dear Lucky, so named as she miraculously survived tick paralysis when just a few days old. Thanks to my dad's tender loving care, she is wonderfully affectionate and will run up for a cuddle (until she realises you aren't carrying food).
At present my herd only numbers 36 (plus a few bucks who will be headed for the freezer shortly) but i plan to build up to several hundred over the next few years.
A bit of a light spin this afternoon before a more spirited effort tomorrow morning before work. Fingers crossed the weather is kind, if not i'll just dismount for every roundabout. It might be a rather slow ride.
Fair Winds,
LDR.
