While the pressures of house renovation and work have conspired against any riding at all for a full month now, it hasn't been all doom and gloom.
Last saturday a "Pink Stumps Day" cricket match was organised in Kin Kin with the 2 main local mayoral candidates as captains, and the outside chance acting as umpire. (Just quickly, by "outside chance" i mean Buckley's, snowball's chance in hell, etc etc).
Now that's about the biggest thing to happen in Kin Kin for a decade, so there was no way i was going to miss it, and i managed to drag along my protesting wife ("But i fucking hate cricket!!")
It's been years since i last went to the oval (specifically, the day of my wedding, to draw a loveheart on Strava) and i had forgotten just how nice the view is.

Watermelon was handed out (because you cannot have a cricket match without watermelon)
Not entirely sure about this stuff...
And we all managed to enjoy ourselves for hours and hours (even if the match was a twenty20, it still takes a bloody long time to cricket)
The highlight of the afternoon was when Sandy Bolton (current councillor and candidate for mayor) wandered over for a chat, and Winnie lunged for her fake pink moustache! I think it's the mark of a good mayor, to just stand there calmly while a baby tries to pull your face off.
On top of groping local councillor's faces, Winnie has been taking swimming lessons, and having a great time in the process.
And even at work things have been pretty good, in the case of the pool shop, i got sent here-
And in the case of the servo, i walked over the road to take a photo because i quit!
I'm still on the books as an emergency fill-in, but this means no more waking up at 10pm to start work, and no more getting home at sunrise to snatch a 30 minute nap before heading off for more work.
Obviously that involves less money, so i am turning to other means (ones that don't involve being awake at piss-off o-clock).
Fair Winds,
LDR.
